Ring of Honor announced three new matches for its upcoming June 24 internet pay-per-view earlier today.
The June pay-per-view–now sub-titled Best in the World: “Hostage Crisis”–will see Roderick Strong putting his television championship on the line against both Jay Lethal and Tommaso Ciampa in a three-way elimination match. All three men saw quite a bit of one another during day two of Showdown in the Sun, a confrontation which saw Roderick walk out of Fort Lauderdale as the new television champion thanks in large part to Ciampa’s intervention. After wrestling to a decisive outcome at Border Wars in Toronto, both Lethal and Ciampa look to move on with their Ring of Honor careers and earn television gold. With champion Roderick Strong in the fray, however, walking out of New York City as television champion will prove to be a tall order.
The second match announced earlier today sees “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards look to build on his huge victory over Rhino at Border Wars against yet another veteran of the game: “The Notorious 187” Homicide. After falling to Mike Bennett back in March at the 10th Anniversary Show, Homicide looks to establish himself as a winner in Ring of Honor once again. But with an opponent as hard-hitting and intense as Edwards, coming out victorious is easier said than done.
Lastly, former Future Shock partners go to battle one more time, this time in a Hybrid Fighting Rules challenge. In this match, there are no pinfalls; the only way to win is to knock an opponent out for 10 seconds, force him into submission, rendering him unable to continue as determined by the presiding official, or by fighting to a 15-minute draw. With tons of tention already between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly, this latest match is sure to be another epic chapter in their heated rivalry.
