Adam Cole Re-Signs With ROH

Ring of Honor fans breathed a collective sigh of relief this week after it was announced that Adam Cole had signed a new contract with the company.

Much had been made of Cole’s future after he was invited to take part in a tryout a few months back for WWE. Fortunately for ROH fans he will not be leaving just yet after signing a new deal. We are unaware how long the contract is for but 12-month deals are most common with ROH talent.

Cole made his initial ROH debut in 2009 and was going to be made the main man in Prince Nana’s Embassy before that idea was scrapped. He eventually signed a contract in late 2010 and hasn’t looked back since.

He quickly formed a partnership with Kyle O’Reilly as they formed Futureshock. The pair had numerous entertaining matches that made them both firm favourites with the ROH fans. They would later go their separate ways and had a brief feud which included the Hybrid Fighting Rules match at ‘Best In The World 2012′. Cole earned cult status during the match, fighting on with blood pouring from his mouth in one of ROH’s most iconic moments.

Not long after, Cole won his first and to date only title in ROH, the World TV championship from Roderick Strong. He held the belt for nine months before surprisingly losing it to Matt Taven at the ’11th Anniversary Show’. Since then Cole has had his eyes on the ROH World Title and got a shot at Jay Briscoe at ‘Border Wars 2013’ but came up short.

Since Toronto, Cole has been on somewhat of a losing streak and it’ll be interesting to see where he goes from here. Whichever route he takes, it’s sure to be an entertaining one with Cole proving time and again that he’s one of the hottest properties in pro wrestling today.

On signing his new deal, Cole said: “Re-signing with Ring of Honor is exciting for me on many levels. Getting to continue my journey in the best wrestling company in the world has my motivation and drive at an all time high. If you want to be the best, you prove it in Ring of Honor. And that’s exactly what I plan on doing.”

In other news, ring announcer Bobby Cruise has revealed that he too has signed a new contract with ROH. Cruise posted on his Facebook page, saying: “I’m happy to announce that Ring of Honor & I have reached an agreement that will not only keep me with ROH but it will also have me announcing at more ROH events. I won’t be at every live event but if it’s an iPPV, TV Taping or “Road Rage” TV Taping/Live Event, I’ll be there. Very happy to have this done.”
