On the 3/14 episode of ROH on HDNet, Prince Nana and the rest of The Embassy welcomed another member into the illustrious faction.
Nana introduced the man as his “Project” and we soon found out that he was Tommaso Ciampa. He made his debut on the same night in a dominant victory over Mike Sydal in which he showed off his devastating powerbomb into a backbreaker finishing move.
Ciampa continued his impressive start in Ring of Honor at ‘Defy or Deny’ and ‘Manhattan Mayhem IV’. In Plymouth, MA, Ciampa beat Adam Cole and one night later, he defeated Grizzly Redwood. That made it a hat-trick of wins for the newest Embassy recruit and ROH Officials responded by putting him in two matches at the ‘Honor Takes Center Stage’ weekend.
At Chapter 1, Ciampa was put in a four corner survival match alongside Caleb Konley, Colt Cabana and Homicide. Ciampa once again impressed but eventually Homicide got the win by pinning Konley who was on trial with the House of Truth. The following day at Chapter 2, “The Project” took on Homicide in a singles match and Ciampa was able to cause a major upset as he won the bout with a Northern Lights suplex following help from The Embassy.
ROH have just announced that Homicide will get a rematch at ‘ROH Revolution:USA’. “The Notorious 187” was furious with his loss in Atlanta and threw a steel chair at Barrister R.D. Evans after the match which knocked Prince Nana’s lawyer out. Homicide says he wants revenge and that he should never have lost to Ciampa in the first place.
Homicide hasn’t had the best of times since his return to ROH and a win against Ciampa would put him back on the right track. A win for Ciampa however would seriously dent Homicide’s confidence and as a former ROH World Champion, you’d really expect him to win. Ciampa is a phenomenal specimen though and with the backing of The Embassy from ringside and the best manager in Professional Wrestling in Prince Nana, he has all the tools to once again upset “The Rottweiller”.
