Ring of Honor taped four weeks of television May 5th in Toronto, and the “Best in the World 2013” card is coming together with three big title matches and another huge match that’s likely to happen.
The ROH World Title will be defended in Baltimore on the iPPV. If Jay Briscoe is able to survive title matches against Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards and B.J. Whitmer in the next month, he’ll move on to “Best in the World 2013” to defend the title against his brother Mark Briscoe. On an upcoming episode of television, Jay claims he can beat anyone in ROH, which caused his brother to ask for a title shot. On the following episode, Mark defeats Colin Delaney and Nigel McGuinness awards “Chicken” the title match. It’s going to be more of a bar fight than a wrestling match when Dem Boys collide for the ROH World Title.
reDRagon will also defend the ROH World Tag Team Titles against the C&C Wrestle Factory. Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander won a triple threat tag team match at the taping to earn the title match. They defeated the teams of TaDarius Thomas/ACH and QT Marshall/RD Evans when C&C hit the Overtime on Thomas. Both reDRagon and C&C are incredible tag teams, so this should be an amazing match.
The third title match on “Best in the World 2013” will be Jay Lethal challenging for the ROH World TV Title against Matt Taven. Lethal won a triple threat match against B.J. Whitmer and Mike Bennett to earn the title shot. Taven has found ways to keep hold of the ROH World TV Title since winning it at the “11th Anniversary Show,” but will he be able to do it again against a former champion like Lethal? We’ll find out June 22!
Another match that is likely to happen but is not yet official is Tommaso Ciampa going one-on-one against Michael Elgin. “The Sicilian Psychopath” made his return from injury at “Border Wars” when he chased off Marshall and Evans. At the TV taping, Evans and Marshall interrupted a segment that featured McGuinness reassuring Elgin he has a future ROH World Title match. Ciampa attacked Evans and Marshall and then had an intense stare down with Elgin. They stared each other down on another episode, and a match between the two seems very likely, and it could have a major impact on the landscape of the company.
