“The American Wolf” Davey Richards is set to make his return to Ring of Honor at “Death Before Dishonor X” Sept. 15 in Chicago Ridge, Ill., and he will discuss his future with the company.
It will be his first appearance in ROH since “Best in the World 2012” in June, which was a rough night for Richards. Not only did he lose in his only opportunity to recapture the ROH World Title from Kevin Steen, but Kyle O’Reilly, his protege and training partner, turned his back on the former champion.
Fans have been discussing what the future has in store for Richards during his absence, and he will address just that upon his return at “Death Before Dishonor X.” His future plans may revolve around trying to teach O’Reilly respect following his actions at “Best in the World 2012.”
Will settling a grudge be enough to keep Richards going? He has been a wrestler who is driven by the chance to win championship gold in ROH, but he will be unable to regain the ROH World Title until Steen is no longer champion. How will that affect his future plans in the company?
Just because he can’t challenge for the ROH World Title, it doesn’t mean he can’t challenge for other championships. On ROHCast Episode 45, Richards hinted that the American Wolves would reunite very soon. Richards and Eddie Edwards are former ROH World Tag Team Champions, and held the belts for more than eight months. After the falling out Richards and Edwards had last year, would they be able to put their differences aside if they do reunite the American Wolves?
While nobody knows what Richards’s future has in store for him until he makes the announcement at “Death Before Dishonor X,” one thing is certain: if his past is any indication of his future, it will be full of exciting matches and moments.
You can watch Richards discuss his future live as “Death Before Dishonor X” will air live on iPPV Sept. 15.
