Ring of Honor has announced its return to iPPV with “Death Before Dishonor IX” September 17 from the Grand Ballroom in New York City.
“Death Before Dishonor IX” will be the first iPPV after the tapings of the new television show, which is set to debut a week after the iPPV on September 24. “Death Before Dishonor IX” will be the 10th Ring of Honor iPPV and the fifth held in New York City.
“Death Before Dishonor” has been one of Ring of Honor’s signature events over the promotion’s history and has been an annual event since the inaugural “Death Before Dishonor” event in July 2003. The show has been the setting to many classic Ring of Honor moments and matches.
The most recent event, “Death Before Dishonor VIII,” may have been the best one yet. It aired live on iPPV in June 2010 from Toronto, Canada. The night saw the first one-on-one match between Kevin Steen and El Generico after Steen turned his back on his longtime tag partner. The Kings of Wrestling successfully defended their tag titles in an absolute war against the Briscoes. Then-ROH World Champion Tyler Black successfully defeated challenger Davey Richards to retain his title in a great match that many fans thought was the Match of the Year.
“Death Before Dishonor IX” has high expectations to live up to, but there is no reason to think that those expectations will not be exceeded.
“Death Before Dishonor IX” will air live on GoFightLive.tv with the bell time at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at ROHWrestling.com.
