El Generico signs with WWE

Former ROH Tag Team and World TV champion El Generico has signed with WWE, pending physical tests. The news broke on various websites yesterday including PWPonderings.com and after checking the facts with reliable sources, we can confirm that Generico, real name Rami Sebei, has signed a deal with WWE.

Generico’s last appearance in ROH was the insane Ladder War against his former best friend and constant enemy Kevin Steen for the ROH World title. Generico may have left ‘Final Battle 2012’ as a loser but if it is to be his last ROH match, like it appears to be, it will be remembered for a long time by fans in attendance and those who watched on iPPV.

‘The Generic Luchador’ had made his ROH debut in 2005 but it wasn’t until 2007 that he really made his mark alongside fellow Canadian Steen. At the ‘Driven’ event in September 2008, Steen & Generico finally won the ROH World Tag Team titles from The Age of the Fall. The pair would go on to lose the belts to the American Wolves before Steen turned on his partner at ‘Final Battle 2009’.

After a bloody year long feud, Generico got his revenge by beating Steen in a ‘Mask vs. ROH career’ match at ‘Final Battle 2010’ in what was one of ROH’s most intense matches. ‘Best In The World 2011’ saw Generico win his first singles title in ROH after he defeated TV champion Christopher Daniels. Unfortunately for Generico, he lost the belt to Jay Lethal in his first defense.

After that, Generico was used sparingly by ROH, much to the displeasure of the ROH fans. Generico will always be remembered as a man who put everything on the line to entertain us, the fans. He is an extremely talented individual and we at ROHWorld.com wish him the absolute best of luck in the next chapter of his career. ¡Olé!
