El Generico has been scheduled to defend the Ring of Honor World Television Title against Jay Lethal at the first set of Sinclair Broadcast Group television tapings.
Generico won the title June 26 by defeating “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels at “Best in the World 2011” in a great match. He has defended the title once since he won it, in a cage match against Roderick Strong at “No Escape” in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lethal, a former Pure Champion, made a successful return to Ring of Honor at “Best in the World 2011” by beating “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett. Lethal said it was a shock to get the title shot, but he is honored to get the first TV Title opportunity on the new television show.
Bennett and Michael Elgin were both considered for the TV Title match at the television tapings, but recent events led to them not receiving the match. Generico has beaten Elgin in the past. Elgin does also hold a victory over Generico, it came with outside interference.
Several losses over the past few months have put Bennett’s championship dreams on hold for the moment. The loss that seemed to have the greatest impact was the one to Lethal at “Best in the World 2011.”
El Generico will defend the Ring of Honor TV Title against Jay Lethal August 13 in Chicago Ridge, Illinois.
