No it wasn't. You're thinking of a different situation. At Final Battle 2008, Austin Aries punched a fan. The situation got pretty heated, with Paul Turner choking someone out.

TruTV didn't start filming until 2009.

Here's an excerpt from a review from 411mania:

- After all this ends Austin Aries punches a fan right in the face. Paul Turner gets involved and looks to have the guy in a choke hold. Security and who looks to be Adam Pearce helps escort the guy out. No clue what started it. Turner gets a standing O and a "Next World Champ" chant.

Here's the Tru TV segment I think you're talking about:

He can wrestle wrestle. Not his fault that ROH feels like the only way Steen can draw is in no DQ matches with weapons.

Also, I really don't think he cares about this incident. What's ROH gonna do? Fire him?

He's in character on his twitter. I'm sure he'd care if he'd knocked out a guy for real.

The match wasn't advertised as No DQ so that point is moot

ROH, you need to hire Caleb Seltzer, your guest commentator that you had on from PWF Northeast he could be the next Joey Styles, from the original ECW days.

Why did ROH fly Rhett in just to do a 3 second gig?

ROH need Davey Richards back as Champion

Kevin Steen is a hardcore wrestler and ROH should create a belt for that kind of division.

Did you drink one too many Harpoons again and hop on the computer?

I agree with the assessment that he's not just a hardcore wrestler. It just seems that's the only way he's being booked in ROH since 2010.

Yeah that's not a work. The fan didn't want to play Steen's kissing game and Jimmy obviously breaks character. Steen needs to get in trouble for this somehow.

I knew it!

And I can't help but keep watching that gif of what happened. It sucks for them, but it's a good laugh for me.

After some hesitations I watched last night's iPPV, since I will definitely not buy DBD and I gotta say, it was a solid show, but also the weakest iPPV they have ever done.
The main event, and the 2 out of 3 Falls were both very good matches, Mondo vs Strong was good as well and the Briscoes/SCUM and the Mixed tag team match were both solid.
However, Bob/Cole was a complete joke, but that was to be expected. What really stood out to me, was how horrible Haas is as a singles wrestler, I hoped he would be better as a heel, but that match was a total disappoinment, and my expectations were very low, so that should say sth.
What I was really missing was a truely great wrestling contest, sure Ciampa/Lethal was a good one, but one of the ingredients missing was a really outstanding Wrestling match.
I agree 100% with HarpoonIPA about Davey Richards being used again, sure he's an asshole and his recent behaviour is nothing I condone, but let's face it, the guy ALWAYS delivers in the ring no matter who you put him against. And that is one of the most important things ROH needs to improve from the show yesterday: Booking a GREAT Wrestling match up. Alas, I really hope they book Davey for DBD, if you have read the spoilers, you know that show needs a big WRESTLING match to get an acceptable buyrate.
And also a BIG YES to everyone being upset about the way Steen is getting booked. Sure, he's a great brawler, but he's such a good wrestler too. But right now I get the impression he's just getting booked in those No DQ affaires, which is really a shame. Just let him wrestle a normal wrestling match once in a while, there's no need for every title match being a brawl, it's really annoying to me at the moment and right now, I think Steen's reign is still a bit lackluster.

I'm really dissapointed in Steen if this is real. Making out with fans is already crossing the line abit so here really is out of line getting angry for someone pushing him away and I can only hope this is a work because the champ punching two fans is terrible for publicity.

Completely agree. If it wasn't a work, then it's a bit of a dick move from Steen. I'm not a fan of wrestlers acting all tough with fans. Even if they were shouting stuff at him during the match, they have paid to air their opinion. It happens in every single sport but you don't see footballers or baseball players attacking fans. Obviously it was extremely abusive or whatever then that's a different story but Steen should still have risen above it.

I don't think SBG will be best pleased.

This is what ROH wants, they want tremendous heat on Steen so when they make the move for who ever they decide to be ROH's Savior it will be epic. That's what they are trying for anyways

Steen is a genius, he's friends with Davey and he did this to get some heat off of Davey.

And it's working!

For anyone thinking that ROH would get sued....need to check the tickets but they 100% use to say if u enter in to the Arena you are giving up the right to sue ROH.

Didn't look like he slapped them that hard, I would be embarresed to be on the ground from that :?

It doesn't say that now, Nigel. It prevents ROH from being sued over accidental things like, for example, the barricade banging your knee when a wrestler is slammed into it. If Kevin Steen had accidentally hit the fan, then you'd be on the money. At The Big Bang, Erick Stevens' foot kicked me in the shoulder when he got tossed over the guardrail. I wouldn't be able to sue in that instance. Kevin Steen intentionally assaulted this fan, so the fan has room for a lawsuit. I doubt anything comes of it though.
