Do we need a subfolder for fan activities such as the old board?

Would be really nice to have one place to check.....The Mods can put a disclaimer at the top saying they are not responsible etc.

We do have a rule about selling stuff on the forum saying we're not liable.

Creating a new section just to sell tickets etc would simply encourage sales and increase the chance of scammers joning the board.

If people want to sell tickets, feel free to create a thread in the General board. But I don't think we'll be adding a seperate section for it just yet.

We noticed that was on the old ROH board, but didn't think it would be neccesary when creating the board.

Was it useful on the old forum?

Maybe we could add it in the future.

Ads...? You guys are that broke that need to advertise on here?

That's just really weak.

The costs of running the site (including the website, the forum, emails and TJP's website) has increased a lot since we began in February of last year.

That doesn't include costs such as DVDs which I buy so I can review for the website.

We figured that an add on the site and one on the forum would bring in some revenue for us (hopefully enough to cover the costs of the site bills) without getting in the way.

If you'd like to pay the site bills then I'd be more than willing to remove the advert.

What's it cost? Like $80 for the domain name?

Domain name is £15 a year
Hosting is £70+ a year
Then add to that the iPPV we bought to give away, the DVDs we buy to review.

If the one ad banner annoys you that much, as Steven said, feel free to pay for our expenses!

We don't run this site to make money, in the unlikely even that we make a profit from these ads. We'll just use it to buy stuff to giveaway on the forum, or Twitter etc.

Yup, that's £85 to begin with for the upcoming year and it was around £70 last year.

I'd say that in total, we've spent around £200/$350 on the website since we opened it in February 2011.

As Harry said, we don't do it to make any money (it would be impossible anyway) but if we can pay off some of the bills with a couple of adverts then why not?

I think you'll notice that even the big dirtsheet sites have tons of adds - A LOT more than us!

We really appreciate the time and money you guys put into this place.

One ad at the top doesnt harm anyone. Is it possible for members to donate? Some forums allow it and donatees have it displayed so everyone can see who has donated.

Thanks a lot.

Yes we could easily set that up. I don't know why we never thought of it really.

Apart from being labelled as a donator, what other perks would you like donatees to have on the forum or website?

I just thought I'd post this link to the phpBB mods database.

It's what we use to run our forum, if you see a mod on there you'd like us to install. Just let us know!

There's loads of stuff on there.

Would you guys like a dedicated board for selling tickets/DVDs and/or one for arranging fan activites like the old board had.

Or any other suggestions for stuff you'd like to see?

Thanks

I probably wouldn't use that personally but I'm sure some people might.

And idk anything about coding a website or anything but is there any way to add something where you get like notifications for when you get quoted? I've seen it on other forums before and it seems useful. Just a suggestion.

And thanks again for all the work you guys put on this site. Usually most other wrestling forums will have like a two page ROH thread and no one to talk about it with. Glad there's a strong community here.

Hmm, I can try and find some sort of notification things for quotes. I'll see what I can find.

Thanks, glad you like the board!

If you do go for the notifications for quotes, make it optional for users. On another board I go on, those annoyed most people pretty quickly.
