Over the past decade, Ohio Valley Wrestling has forged an incredible reputation for producing the “Superstars of the Future”. Household names such as John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton and Batista learned their trade in the one-time WWE developmental territory.
Since severing it’s ties, with the WWE, OVW has gone on to re-establish itself as one of the most credible regional promotions, in North America.
Based in the state of Kentucky and running shows out of the legendary Davis Arena, the OVW promotion has strong links with Ring of Honor. ROH television’s Executive Producer, Jim Cornette, and wrestling talent including Colt Cabana, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin have worked, extensively, down in Louisville.
In 2010, ROH ran it’s first shows in the area, recording the ‘Bluegrass Brawl’ DVD event as well as taping TV, for HDNet, on December 9th & 10th.
With ROH now having broadcast television coverage in many new parts of the United States, including on WDKY in Lexington, KY, the company will be looking continue it’s southerly expansion, with a second TV taping in the Kentuckiana area.
ROHWorld.com is happy to report that Ring of Honor will return to the Davis Arena, on October 1st, 2011, to record the next set of all-important Sinclair Broadcast Group episodes.
The choice of venue, for these tapings, shows ROH’s clear commitment, not only to expand it’s business into the areas in which it now has TV coverage but also to foster stronger links with smaller independent promotions.
In recent weeks, Ring of Honor has, once again, been working closely with it’s friends at OVW. OVW proprietor Danny Davis was responsible for building ROH’s new ring, in preparation for the Chicago TV tapings. ROH returned the favour, by allowing World Champion Davey Richards to appear on OVW TV Episode #624 (which can be seen here), to take on local star Sean Casey.
Tickets, for the historic second ROH SBG TV tapings, will be available from Noon EST, on Monday, August 22nd, at ROHStore.com.
Be sure to keep an eye on ROHWorld.com, in the coming weeks, for more information about this unique event.
