ROH’s last trip to the city of Chicago was for the first set of SBG TV tapings. Following on from the success of this show, November 19th was immediately announced as the return date.
ROH officials have now confirmed that this date will bring with it the continuation of an ROH tradition. In Chicago Ridge, IL, the 10th annual ‘Glory By Honor’ extravaganza will take place.
This event is known for being second only, in significance, to ‘Final Battle’, as a part of ROH’s annual calendar. Over the past decade, it has played host to some of the most emotionally-charged moments in wrestling history. Who could forget Tyler Black’s final Ring of Honor match, last year, or the visual of Eddie Edwards scaling a ladder, with one arm in a cast, in September 2009, or the genre-defining Joe-Low Ki Fight Without Honor, all the way back in 2002.
Expect a packed house, in the Windy City.
ROHWorld.com can now report that the hallmark ‘Survival of the Fittest’ event will also return, before the end of the year.
The ‘Survival of the Fittest’ one-night tournament involves six qualifying matches, with the winners going on to a six-man elimination match finale. The sole survivor is granted a guaranteed ROH World Championship match, at a time of his choosing.
At last year’s event, rising star Eddie Edwards battled through a broken collarbone to defy the odds and win the guaranteed title shot.
Edwards went on to complete his meteoric ascension, through the ROH ranks, by rolling up then-Champion Roderick Strong at the ‘Manhattan Mayhem IV’ spectacular, in March of this year.
It took only three seconds for Eddie Edwards to become the 15th ROH World Champion. Each member of the ROH roster will believe that, going into ‘Survival of the Fittest 2011’, they could be next.
