Ring of Honor have announced more matches for the ‘Best In The World’ iPPV on June 26th. Steve Corino – who is on the road to recovery – will go up against Michael Elgin of the House of Truth. Corino has been on the end of a couple of beatings courtesy of the House of Truth and will go one-on-one with their powerhouse. Corino will have his ‘sponsor’ Jimmy Jacobs in his corner after ROH Officials announced that he would be allowed to accompany ‘The King of Old School’ to the ring. Elgin will have House of Truth leader Truth Martini by his side.
Jay Lethal will make his first appearance in ROH for five years and will go up against ‘The Prodigy’ Mike Bennett. Bennett has been very impressive in ROH so far and was crowned the 2011 ‘Top Prospect’. Many fans were hoping that ROH might bring in an outside name to face Lethal but this match-up makes sense. Bennett still has something to prove to the ROH fans and a great match with a man as well respected as Lethal may just do that. ROH have also confirmed that they are in negotiations with Lethal for him to do more dates throughout 2011 which is very good news indeed.
The third match that has been announced is Homicide vs. The Embassy’s bodyguard which we now know is Rhino. Prince Nana had been teasing the announcement of his bodyguard and finally told us that it is former World Champion Rhino. We have also learned that this will be a No Holds Barred Street Fight. Both of these men are no strangers to brawls and this could be a very good match. Homicide has been criticised by some ROH fans for his in-ring work since his return to the company but putting him in the ring with somebody like Rhino is a very smart choice and will give Homicide a chance to show his best stuff once again.
The latest match to be announced will see Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly go up against the returning Young Bucks in what should be a brilliant tag team match. Unfortunately, the match will not be available on iPPV (because of what we presume is the restrictions in the Bucks’ TNA contracts) but will be released with the DVD.
