Several Matches Announced for Chicago/Dayton Doubleshot

A number of matches have recently been announced for Ring of Honor’s next weekend of action in Chicago and Dayton on April 28 and 29.

At ‘Unity’, TJP Perkins, Adam Cole and Jay Lethal will team up for the first time to take on CHIKARA’s Colony! This match is a continuation of the working relationship between the two companies after TJP beat Fire Ant at ‘Showdown in the Sun: Day Two’. The bout will be contested under Lucha Rules which means no tags are necessary and once one man has left the ring, another member of his team can jump right in! This is bound to an excellent match and one not to be missed!

There is another tag team encounter set for the same event as Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong of the House of Truth face the All Night Express! This is a first time match-up between these two and is an interesting bout. The HoT have shown signs of weakness recently with both Elgin and Strong fighting for the limelight. ANX have recently come back to ROH competition after Rhett Titus underwent surgery. Whoever wins this hard-fought match will receive a major boost going forward.

We will also see Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team take on Team Ambition. WGTT will be competing for the ROH World Tag Team titles the night after but won’t be able to phone it in against Davey Richards and Kyle O’Reilly. With O’Reilly’s recent change of attitude, it will be interesting to see if he and Richards can co-exist and this will be the perfect opportunity to see if they can still function as a unit.

One night after that on ROH’s return to Dayton, Roderick Strong will take on the man he won his newly acquired ROH TV title from, Jay Lethal! This will not be a title match as the event is not an iPPV or TV taping but Lethal will look to get a measure of revenge after losing the title at ‘Showdown in the Sun: Day Two’. With half an eye still on Tommaso Ciampa and the Embassy, it’ll be interesting to see if he can once again come out on top against Strong. This has been made a two out of three falls match which will finally prove who is the better man!

Also in Dayton, The Briscoes will defend the ROH World Tag Team titles once more against Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team. The Briscoes beat WGTT for the belts at ‘Final Battle 2011’ and successfully defended them in the rematch at ‘Showdown in the Sun: Day Two’. However, WGTT attacked the seven-time champions after the match so this grudge match has been signed. If WGTT lose, it’ll surely be their last shot while the Briscoes are champions, can they regain the gold?
