New matches announced for ‘Honor Takes Center Stage’ weekend

Over the past few days, a number of new matches have been announced for the ‘Honor Takes Center Stage’ weekend on April 1st and 2nd.

The April 1st show is shaping up to be one hell of an event. Eddie Edwards won the ROH World Championship at ‘Manhattan Mayhem IV’ and his first title defence will come against Christopher Daniels. It says something when that match might not be match of the night. A ‘Final Battle 2010’ rematch has also been signed for Friday. Davey Richards will go up against Roderick Strong. Richards is well on his way to getting back on top of his game and if he beats Strong, may decide to challenge American Wolf partner Edwards for the title. Strong will be looking to bounce back after losing his belt after a seven month reign. This will be an important match for both men. Brilliant tag team action is expected from ROH events and we’ll see some of it on Friday. The Briscoes, coming off a defeat to The All Night Express face off against the promising team of Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly. The final match to be announced so far for the April 1st show is a grudge match between El Generico and Michael Elgin. The House of Truth haven’t seen eye-to-eye with “The Generic Luchadore” and Generico already holds a victory over Elgin but that came at a cost as he was beaten down afterwards. The House of Truth will be banned from ringside for this one which should make it a fair match.

The second show of the weekend comes on the Saturday and looks just as good. Kyle O’Reilly & Adam Cole will be in action again as they face off against the longest reigning ROH Tag Team Champions in history – The Kings of Wrestling. A win for Cole & O’Reilly would really put them to the forefront of the title picture but it’ll be a very tough ask against the wrestling royalty. Another rematch has been signed for the ‘Honor Takes Center Stage’ weekend. On April 2nd, Roderick Strong will go up against El Generico in a SoCal Showdown II” rematch. Generico was oh so close to defeating Strong for the ROH World Title but underhand tactics from the champ saw him through. Generico will be looking for revenge as Strong looks to rebound with a weekend of wins. Another tag team match scheduled for the Saturday is The Briscoes vs. The All Night Express. ANX defeated the Briscoes at ‘Manhattan Mayhem IV’ but after the match, Jay & Mark beat down on Rhett Titus & Kenny King and the two teams fought to the back. Tempers continued to fray backstage and ROH officials decided to solve it by booking the match for Atlanta. The final match announced so far is Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana vs. Dave Taylor. Taylor was recently announced as the newest member of The Embassy and Prince Nana’s latest recruit will go up against Cabana, a man who Nana dislikes. Nana has publicly said that he thinks Cabana is a ‘fool’, Cabana accepted Nana’s challenge as he looks forward to the strong European style Taylor will bring to ROH.
