Three more matches have been announced for Ring of Honor’s return to Toronto May 12 at “Border Wars.”
The first of the three new matches is going to be for the ROH World Tag Team Titles when the Briscoes once again defend their belts against Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team. This time, however, it will be a “Fight Without Honor.” These two teams have been at each other’s throats since last June when the Briscoes attacked Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin with chairs. The two teams have gone back and forth attacking each other, and thousands of dollars in fines have been paid as a result of the attacks. It is only fitting that the two teams meet in a “Fight Without Honor.” Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team defeated the Briscoes the last time Ring of Honor was in Toronto at “Revolution: Canada.” Haas and Benjamin hope they can repeat that result and reclaim the ROH World Tag Team Titles.
The next match that has been announced for “Border Wars” is “The Belfast Brusier” Fit Finlay taking on the ROH World Television Champion Roderick Strong. Both of these wrestlers are among the toughest and hardest hitting wrestlers on the planet, and this should be a very stiff match. Strong is riding a wave of momentum after winning the ROH World Television Championship at “Showdown in the Sun: Day Two,” and there will be no better way for him to continue his momentum than by defeating a wrestler of Finlay’s stature. Finlay is one of the toughest men to ever step into the ring, and is looking to prove that he still has what it takes. Finlay and Strong are going to have a hard-hitting match that will leave both men in a great amount of pain after it is all said and done. This match has the potential to be one of the best matches of the night.
The final match that has been announced so far for “Border Wars” is Eddie Edwards facing off against Rhino. This is a very intriguing matchup. Edwards has a never say die attitude and will always get up when knocked down. Rhino’s services were recently acquired by the House of Truth, and Truth Martini is looking for him to take Edwards to help clear out Strong’s road to the title. Rhino is among the strongest wrestlers in the world, and his Gore is one of the most devastating moves in all of wrestling. If he is able to hit it on Edwards, it doesn’t matter how much heart he has because he isn’t getting up. Edwards is going to have to use his strikes and submissions to try to wear Rhino down. This is an interesting matchup because of the style differences, and it should make it a lot of fun to watch the match play out.
“Border Wars” airs live on iPPV from the Ted Reeves Arena in Toronto May 12 at 7:30 p.m.
