Three new matches have been announced for Ring of Honor’s debut in Charleston, WV on Friday, June 15.
Firstly, Kevin Steen will defend his ROH World Title for the very first time against former champion and the first ever triple crown winner in ROH – Eddie Edwards! Edwards lost the title to Davey Richards at ‘Best In The World 2011’ and after holding the belt for almost a year, ‘The American Wolf’ was defeated by Steen at ‘Border Wars’. Steen was scratched from the lineup for ROH’s ‘Battle of Richmond’ event last Saturday after suffering a concussion the night before in Baltimore. It will be interesting to see if Steen has any after effects because if he does, Edwards will be sure to capitalise as he aims to become the second two-time World Champion in ROH history.
The next match to be announced will see Charlie Haas take on Jay Briscoe in a Texas Death Match. The two faced off in Richmond in a unsanctioned Lights Out match which Haas won after a low blow. This came after Haas had to use an ether rag soaked to beat Mark Briscoe and recapture the ROH World Tag Team titles at ‘Border Wars’. Jay Briscoe requested this match and it will go down in Charleston. To win this match, you have to either submit or pin your opponent and then make your opponent stay down for a 10 count. This is the last chapter in the WGTT/Briscoes war, who will come out on top?
Finally, Jay Lethal will go one-on-one with ‘Unbreakable’ Michael Elgin. On this week’s edition of ROH TV, Lethal got involved in Elgin’s match against Grizzly Redwood and Kamel Dickinson. However, this time they will have no distractions as Elgin tries to continue his brilliant recent form and Lethal tries to build on his victory over Tommaso Ciampa at ‘Border Wars’ and get himself back into TV Title contention.
All this and more will go down in Charleston and ROH have confirmed that the show will be recorded by their TV cameras for future episodes of ‘Road Rage’!
