Pro Wrestling NOAH Stars Matches Set for ‘Border Wars’ Weekend

Pro Wrestling NOAh stars Naomichi Marufuji and Taiji Ishimori were announced to compete at both Border Wars on May 4, and the next day’s television taping, and now their opponents have been announced.

Multi-time GHC Champion Marufuji will return to Ring of Honor for the first time in four years at Border Wars, and he will face the best the company has to offer. He will be going one-on-one with former ROH World Champion Davey Richards on the iPPV. These two are no strangers to each other as Marufuji defeated Richards at Final Battle 2007. The American Wolf is looking to get his revenge on the Japanese great, but Marufuji will try to make his ROH return a successful one.

Also at the iPPV, GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion Ishimori will make his ROH debut when he battles Triple Crown winner Eddie Edwards in a non-title bout. These two wrestlers are familiar with each other already, as Edwards has spent extensive time in Japan wrestling and training with Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Marufuji and Ishimori will also be in action at the television taping May 5.

Marufuji is scheduled to wrestle Michael Elgin. Elgin is the No. 1 contender for the ROH World Title after pinning Jay Lethal at Supercard of Honor VII and has beaten all the top names in the company. He will be trying to continue his momentum toward his impending title shot by knocking off Marifuji.

Ishimori will wrestle Roderick Strong at the television taping in a non-title match. Strong has faced Japanese talent at the Ted Reeve Arena in Toronto before. In fact, he battled Marufuji. Strong is trying to get back to his winning ways after falling short to Karl Anderson at Supercard of Honor VII.

Ring of Honor returns to Toronto, Canada May 5 and 6 Border Wars and a television taping. In addition to the these four great matches, new ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe will make his first defense of the belt against Adam Cole.
