One of the most famous stables in ROH history is returning. The Embassy will be making their return in 2011 and be hoping to exceed the levels of success it has previously achieved.
The stable was the brainchild of Prince Nana and he has been behind the stable since its inception in 2004. Originally, Nana was the manager of Xavier but decided to expand and eventually, The Embassy had the likes of Jimmy Rave, Abyss and Alex Shelley within its ranks. The group eventually started to fizzle out and was disbanded after Nana left ROH in 2006.
After Nana returned to ROH in late 2008, The Embassy was then reformed in 2009, this time with Nana alongside Bison Smith and Ernie Osiris. They were then joined by former member Jimmy Rave as well as Claudio Castagnoli, Joey Ryan, Erick Stevens, Shawn Daivari and Necro Butcher.
Yet again though, The Embassy failed to reach the heights that Nana thought were achievable and the group fell apart.
Recently there was a video posted on Youtube with the announcement that The Embassy would be coming back to ROH in 2011 with the tagline of “Featuring a new set of wrestlers in their ranks, The Embassy is re-organized and re-energized for 2011.”
The video mainly featured a man talking about the new Embassy, a man that we know only by the name of Barrister R.D Evans. However, I can inform you that Evans, known as Robert Evans on the independent scene, is a wrestler from Texas. According to people who have seen him wrestle for ACW in the Dallas area, Evans is a very good technical wrestler with great promo skills.
With that, we know Nana, Evans and presumably the other man in the video called Ernie (click here if you haven’t seen it) will be the founding members of the new Embassy, but who else will join them? Could we see the return of “The Crown Jewel” Jimmy Rave?
Whoever joins the new Embassy will want to bring success to Prince Nana and he apparently has lots of money to spend on acquiring new talent after all former members of the stable were released at the request of Evans. That won’t be hard as the only gold the stable has seen in its history is the now defunct ROH Pure Title that was held by John Walters during their original tenure.
