ROH Global Wars Columbus: Minoru Suzuki, Will Ospreay and Toru Yano Signed to Compete

On the heels of announcing that Cody will be defending the Ring of Honor title against KUSHIDA at the Global Wars Columbus event, a bit of extra news was nestled away in passing.

According to Ring of Honor’s website, although not formally announced as of press time, NJPW stars Minoru Suzuki, Toru Yano and Will Ospreay will also be competing at the show.

Suzuki recently challenged Cody for the ROH World title at Death before Dishonor unsuccessfully, but as he exited the ringside area, he leered over ROH ambassador Cary Silken on his way out. His opponent has not been announced, but after not wrestling in the United States for 25 years, he is now wrestling his second match in the span of two months for the company. Who he will face has not been decided, but it would not be a surprise for one member  of the ROH roster to stand up to Suzuki and defend the honor of the company.

Toru Yano is no stranger to Ring of Honor and he too is scheduled to return with his slapstick style. Yano made his debut with Ring of Honor through NJPW’s partnership with the company back at Death Before Dishonor XIV, just over a year ago. A favorite of Ring of Honor crowds, Yano will no doubt look to use his usual bag of tricks and shenanigans to pull out a victory. Yano became one third of the first ever NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Jay and Mark Briscoe, so it will be interesting to see if the three team up again and try for ROH’s 6 Man Tag Team titles.

Another member of Chaos, Will Ospreay will also be competing on the night. The Aerial Assassin signed an exclusive deal with Ring of Honor that began last December and has held the ROH TV title, defeating Bobby Fish in his debut match at the ROH Reach For the Sky Tour Liverpool event. He ended up losing the title to fellow Brit Marty Scurll the very next night, but has continued to wow crowds with his his high flying aerial assault. Ospreay last competed in Ring of Honor at the War of World Tour New York stop against Jay White, bring out the best in the Kiwi star, in a match that many considered to be the match of the night.

The event will take place on October 14, 2017 at Express Live! In Columbus, Ohio at 4:30pm EST. Check back for updates as more matches are announced as the event grows closer.

Tickets can be purchased here, or can be viewed on VOD from Ring of Honor’s website.

Update: 10:45pm EST Ring Of Honor has announced that Minoru Suzuki will be appear at four Global Wars events.
