ROH on HDNet Preview: 7th March

The next broadcast of ROH on HDNet airs on Monday, the 7th March at 8pm and 11pm only on HDNet.

As revealed on last week’s episode, current ROH World Champion Roderick Strong will take on the three men he has successfully defended his title against. Strong, alongside his manager Truth Martini, will be in tonight’s Main Event against Jay Briscoe, “The Generic Luchadore” El Generico and Homicide. Strong has been very impressive since he defeated Tyler Black in his last ever ROH match to win the belt. Several challengers later and Strong is still champion, he even handed Homicide his first loss since his return at the 9th Anniversary Show. Homicide will be looking to bounce back from that win to put himself back in the title picture. El Generico has come to a career crossroads after his bitter feud with Kevin Steen and a win tonight would really forward his case for a title shot in the near future.

The Top Prospects Tournament will continue tonight too as both semi final matches appear on the show. “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett takes on Andy “Right Leg” Ridge. Ridge defeated Grizzly Redwood whilst Bennett beat Adam Cole to advance. Bennett is good and he knows it. The cocky grappler, who is always supported at ringside by his trainer “Bullet” Bob Evans already considers himself the top prospect in ROH but now he’ll have to prove it. Ridge was impressive against Redwood and his kicks are devastating. Bennett took a lot of damage against Cole and will surely have to survive a barrage of kicks if he is to get through to the final.

The other semi final sees House of Truth member Michael Elgin vs. Kyle O’Reilly. Elgin has impressed since joining the House of Truth and is definitely the strongest man left in the tournament. O’Reilly is a other man who knows how to use kicks to his advantage. He is also a very capable submission style wrestler and won his first round match against Jon Gresham with a triangle choke. Elgin and Bennett are the favourites but neither man can underestimate their opponents or they might slip up.

The final match-up will feature Colt Cabana. Cabana has adopted a very relaxed stance as of late and says he just wants competition. At the 9th Anniversary Show, he put on a great technical match against Davey Richards but ultimately lost after submitting to a cross armbreaker. Cabana continues his task of promoting the art of Professional Wrestling by taking on Caleb Konley.
