The next broadcast of ROH on HDNet airs on Monday, the 14th March at 8pm and 11pm only on HDNet.
Just over a month ago, Executive Producer Jim Cornette announced that there would be a Top Prospects Tournament to crown the 2011 Top Prospect in Ring on Honor. Over the past few weeks, we have seen the first round and semi final matches and all that’s left is the final to crown the next Top Prospect. The first man into the final was Kyle O’Reilly. O’Reilly beat Jon Gresham and Michael Elgin to advance in spectacular style and his opponent will be none other than “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett. Bennett thinks it’s just a formality that he becomes the next Top Prospect and defeated O’Reilly’s tag team partner Adam Cole and Andy “Right Leg” Ridge to book his place in the final. Bennett goes into the match as the favourite but O’Reilly cannot be underestimated. Steve Corino has said that he thinks Bennett might suffer from overconfidence and has backed O’Reilly to win. Will Corino be right or will 2011 really be the year of “The Prodigy”?
Davey Richards came up short in his title match against Roderick Strong at Final Battle 2010 and subsequently suffered a concussion. Richards vowed that if he didn’t win the title the next time he challenged for it, he wouldn’t challenge for it again. Because of this, Richards said he was going to get to the top of his game before he did and has been relentlessly training in preparation for it. In an interview with Jim Cornette last week on ROH on HDNet, Richards and his training partner Tony Kozina spoke about Richards’ training routine. They revealed that Richards is trying to incorporate all different styles of wrestling and MMA into his own hybrid style that will be impossible to defend against. Richards then said that the two will face off in an exhibition match this week to show the fans what to expect in the future.
In the third and final match on tonight’s show, The Bravado Brothers will go up against the team of Bobby Dempsey and Grizzly Redwood. Redwood and Dempsey are both crowd favourites but have been disappointing as of late and both men got knocked out of the Top Prospects tournament in the first round. The Bravado Brothers aren’t new to ROH but are yet to feature as much as they would like. They took on and defeated the team of Redwood and Steve Corino – a man that has been very vocal in his support of Grizzly – recently. Both teams will be looking to get the victory and whoever loses could find it difficult to bounce back.
All this, plus Prince Nana will introduce us to the new Embassy, on the only hour of Professional Wrestling on Monday nights – ROH on HDNet!
