ROH on SBG: 4/6/13 Report

Caleb Seltzer and Kevin Kelly welcome us to this week’s show. SCUM have been banned from the building.

Tadarius Thomas & ACH vs. Mike Sydal & Adam Page

Sydal and Page get off to a quick start with Page hitting a nice standing shooting star press before Thomas is tagged in and takes him out with some kicks. Page’s ‘surgically repaired right thumb’ is causing him problems but he hits a powerslam and tags out. Sydal in and clears house before hitting a moonsault off the top to ACH on the outside. Page sent to the outside, Thomas hits an enziguri on Sydal before ACH hits the cradle DDT on Sydal for the win.

Winners by pinfall: Tadarius Thomas & ACH

ROHWorld.com’s Thoughts: A pretty short match to quick off the show but it was an entertaining one. ACH & TD do work well as a team and it will be interesting to see if they tag more in the future. Page & Sydal were good opponents and all four men gelled well.

Backstage, Veda Scott tries to ask MsChif about her upcoming match but is cut off by Truth Martini and hoopla hottie Scarlett Bordeaux. Truth says he likes MsChif’s style and asks her to become a hoopla hottie. She denies before walking off. Truth then tells Scarlett she is in the match and Truth says the tears of a woman turn him on. Yep.

MsChif vs. Athena vs. Cherry Bomb vs. Scarlett Bordeaux

Veda is on commentary for this one. Scarlett is cowering in the corner and I can’t really blame her as MsChif and Athena slug it out. With MsChif in the corner, Scarlett tags herself in but is quickly taken down before a running knee into the corner from MsChif. Athena to the top but Cherry Bomb cuts her off. MsChif then gets involved and we see a powerbomb and superplex tower of doom move. Scarlett tries to sneak a win but all three women kick out. MsChif then grabs her and hits a powerbomb. Missile dropkick from Cherry Bomb on MsChif and then from nowhere Athena hits the O Face off the top on Cherry Bomb for the win. Veda gets in the ring to try and interview MsChif after the match but she ignores her and then spits the green mist into her face.

Winner by pinfall: Athena

ROHWorld.com’s Thoughts: It was different to the normal one-on-one women’s matches we get on ROH TV that don’t mean much. It was a decent match and had a storyline behind it which made it mean more. This is MsChif’s first defeat even though she didn’t officially get pinned.

Now onto this week’s ‘Inside ROH’ and we learn more about the Forever Hooligans and see brief highlights of their match against the Wolves at the ’11th Anniversary Show’. Tonight they take on reDRagon for the titles. Bobby Fish says tonight the Forever Hooligans have bad luck because they’re facing the Forever Champions.

Roderick Strong vs. Pepper Parks

Both men trade moves early on before Strong hits a number of chops and a belly-to-back suplex for two. They begin to battle on the ring apron, Strong attempts to run at Parks but walks straight into a big knee to the face. Back in the ring and Strong fights back with a superkick for two. Parks to the top and hits a neckbreaker for a near fall. Strong back again with a jumping knee followed by a gutbuster and then locks in the Strong Hold for the win.

Winner by submission: Roderick Strong

ROHWorld.com’s Thoughts: This was a decent enough match. Parks looks OK but not sure he’ll become a regular in ROH. Yet another more or less meaningless win for Strong though, and I hope he starts getting some more important ones soon.

ROH World Tag Team Championship
reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) (c) vs. The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov)

The American Wolves join Kevin Kelly for commentary. The Hooligans hit a nice atomic drop/clothesline combo early on but O’Reilly is able to tag Fish in. Romero hits a nice running hurricanrana before tagging Koslov back in. The Hooligans have a disagreement and tease a fight before hugging it out. O’Reilly with a big boot to Koslov on the apron before he hits the missile drop kick to the outside. reDRagon begin to boss the match, Fish hits a backbreaker before a diving knee from O’Reilly for two. O’Reilly off the ropes but Koslov comes back with a nice jumping DDT. Romero gets the tag and clears house with several clotheslines. He then hits a nice suicide dive to take out both champions. Back in the ring and Koslov uses Romero as base to jump from before hitting a splash for two. He puts on his Russian hat and begins to deliver a series of kicks to Fish before a double stomp to the head gets him two. The Hooligans hit a Doomsday Knee off the top on Fish for a very near fall. Romero gets O’Reilly with a kick but then walks into one from Fish as all four men are down. O’Reilly hits a bridging side suplex on Romero but the pin is broken up. Koslov then receives a big kick from O’Reilly before the Total Elimination gets reDRagon a two count. However, they then hit Chasing the Dragon (kick to the head/brainbuster combo) for the win.

Winners by pinfall: Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly

ROHWorld.com’s Thoughts: This was a fantastic match. I really like the Hooligans as a team. They’re fantastic in the ring but break it up with a few comedy spots and they really pull it off well, hopefully they come back to ROH in the future. The match was made to look close and once again, reDRagon looked brilliant. They’ve come so far since they started teaming and are regularly putting on great matches.
