JZ Says
It’s nice to start every episode with a rundown from Quinn McKay. Tonight we have a singles match and a six-man tag team main event. Draper and Isom had a really good match in the opener, and both guys are in a spot where they need wins, so I think the time-limit draw works here. After the match, Dalton Castle makes his way out and talks some trash in his unique way. He kicks both Isom and Draper low, which I guess is a heel turn? I’m ready for fans to be back in ROH, honestly. Castle says he wants the drama back in ROH, so let’s see what they’ve got planned for him.

They show a helpful recap of Ken Dixon joining up with Beer City Bruiser and beating up ROH Dojo students Joe Keys, Dante Caballero, and Eric Martin on the April 20 edition of ROH Week by Week. Bruiser and Dixon get some promo time and appear to be a well-matched duo. They’ll face the OGK next week.

The Righteous (Bateman, Dutch & Vita VonStarr) come out for an in-ring promo. Bateman does most of the talking, and VonStarr gets a few words in as well. Dutch stays silent. They talk about stuff I’m not interested in and then leave.

Faction warfare returned to ROH for the main event, a quick but spirited brawl between LFI and VLNCE UNTLD. The wild brawling style worked for these two groups, but it worked less for me when The Foundation came out to join the melee when their group philosophy is all about technical wrestling and not big brawls. Also, VLNCE UNTLD has been extremely underwhelming in every aspect so far. They just don’t feel like a unit the same way LFI or The Foundation does, it feels like four guys just thrown together. I also feel like I just don’t like Chris Dickinson.

Over on the debut of Women’s Division Wednesday, four newcomers got a shot to introduce themselves to Honor Nation. For some reason, they decided to end this match in a 15:00 draw as well. Yes, there were three matches that ROH presented this week and none of them had a winner. This is rare for ROH on the whole, so I hope this is just an aberration and we go back to people actually winning next week. The four women worked a solid match, but the time limit draw really fails to establish any kind of hierarchy in the division. I also probably would’ve included at least one known name to anchor the bout. Hopefully next week’s offering will be better.
