ROHWorld Weekend Roundup (11/25/12)

Elgin-Strong Confirmed

Like most American businesses, Ring of Honor’s newsworthiness took a hit this past week because of the Thanksgiving holiday. However, ROH confirmed Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong at Final Battle.

The build for this match has been in the works for months, with Strong and Elgin competing for a top spot in Ring of Honor, and master manipulator Truth Martini fighting to play peacemaker. But Martini’s efforts look to be in vain, as both Strong and Elgin collide on Dec. 16 in Manhattan, N.Y.

With the addition of Strong-Elgin, the Final Battle card looks like this.
ROH World Title: Kevin Steen (c) vs. El Generico – Ladder War!
ROH Tag Titles: S.C.U.M (c) vs. The Briscoes vs. Coleman & Alexander
Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong (now confirmed)
Jerry Lynn vs. ???
Non-title: Matt Hardy vs. Adam Cole.

Note on Lethal and SOTF Title Shot

Ring of Honor must have heard many fans’ predictions on Jay Lethal potentially cashing in his Survival of the Fittest title shot at Final Battle. During last weekend’s Inside Ring of Honor segment, Lethal did an interview where he mentioned he couldn’t cash in his title shot until after Steen is champion. So that plot twist is ruled out for now.

ROH Returns to North Carolina

Ring of Honor announced a North Carolina return, this time hitting the WNC Ag Center in Asheville on March 30. Tickets are on sale right now.

This Week on ROHWorld

Dave Hatton talks about monster gimmicks in Ring of Honor here.

Rumors are swirling about a potentially leaked design for the new Ring of Honor world title. The story can be found here.

The latest edition of the ROHCast, featuring an exclusive interview with Tom Filsinger, creator of Filsinger Games and the upcoming Ring of Honor card game, is here. Tom also talks comic books, and the decline of wrestling’s influence over pop culture.

That’s all the news for this week. We hope everyone in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Remember to keep checking ROHWorld.com for all your Ring of Honor news, notes, and analysis.
