Ring of Honor returned to home of SBG – Baltimore – for another TV taping in what is quickly becoming their home. As exclusively revealed on our latest ROHCast, the next set of tapings will take place on March 3rd in the Du Burns Arena.
First Show Taping
The main event for the first show was scheduled to be the Young Bucks vs. Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team but Shelton Benjamin is suspended because he hasn’t paid the fine he received for the chair shots at ‘Final Battle 2011’.
Kevin Steen defeated Andy Ridge
“Mr. Wrestling”, after easily defeating “Right Leg”, attacked him before Steve Corino hit the ring to make the save. Jimmy Jacobs then followed and started to brawl with Steen. Once they were pulled apart, Jacobs challenged Steen to a match.
Davey Richards & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Eddie Edwards & Adam Cole set as the main event for the ‘10th Anniversary Show‘.
Eddie Edwards & Adam Cole defeated Matt Taven & Mike Mondo
The newly formed team of Edwards & Cole got off to a winning start after Cole pinned Taven with the Straight Jacket Suplex. Mondo turned on his own partner and attacked Taven post match.
Mark Briscoe defeated Charlie Haas
This replaced the scheduled main event, Jay Briscoe was handcuffed at ringside but his brother Mark still got the job done after winning the match via a rollup.
Second Show Taping
The Young Bucks defeated Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander
With their ROH World Tag Team title match coming up, the Young Bucks are looking to gain some momentum and did just that against the ever-improving C&C. The Bucks won after hitting the More Bang For Your Buck.
ROH World Title Match: Davey Richards © defeated Jay Lethal
In a rematch from their match at ‘The Homecoming 2012’ these two men put it all on the line again, but the match was marred with interference. Tommaso Ciampa and the Embassy came to ringside followed by Kyle O’Reilly, Eddie Edwards, Adam Cole and the House of Truth and it was said to be a bit of a mess. Lethal was thrown off the top rope by the Embassy which led to Richards retaining with kicks to the head. Lethal and Richards shake hands post match while Ciampa stares on.
The Briscoes vs. Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team set for the ‘Showdown in the Sun‘ weekend.
Third Show Taping
Mike Bennett defeated TJ Perkins
Bennett seems to have fallen out of the TV title picture while TJP is trying to get some wins under his belt. ‘The Prodigy’ picked up the win after his girlfriend Maria interfered.
Tommaso Ciampa defeated Guy Alexander
Guy is no relation to Cedric and was decimated by ‘The Dominant Male’. After a barrage of attacks, the referee stopped the contest as Alexander was unable to defend himself any longer.
Eddie Edwards defeated Roderick Strong
The winner of this match would get a World Title shot at the ‘Showdown in the Sun’ weekend. Cole comes out to support his new partner once Truth Martini interfers. Elgin heads to the ring to even the scores and Strong wins via Sick kick after taping something to his boots. Paul Turner heads from the back and says he saw what Roddy did so overturns the decision. Edwards hits the Die Hard (knocking Todd Sinclair over in the process) for the win.
Confusion ensues which leads Cornette and Cary Silkin who announce it will be Strong vs. Edwards vs. Richards for the ROH World Title on night one of the ‘Showdown in the Sun‘ weekend.
Fourth Show Taping
Main event for the fourth taping is called the ‘Blind Destiny Challenge’. Winner of that match gets a World Title shot at ‘Showdown in the Sun’.
Jay Lethal defeated Kenny King
This was a Proving Ground match, and with Ciampa and Strong already having TV title shots, Lethal didn’t want that list to get any bigger. Fortunately for him, it didn’t, as he beat King via rollup. Strong and Martini came out to watch.
Kevin Steen defeated Adam Cole
This was a qualifying match for the ‘blind destiny challenge’ main event. Steen continued his winning streak since his return with a victory over Adam Cole in a good contest.
Michael Elgin defeated Kyle O’Reilly
This was another qualifier. Strong came out mid-match marking his fourth mid-match appearance of the night… Richards was also out to support O’Reilly and after the match, the World Champion and Roddy fought on the outside.
It was then announced that on night two of ‘Showdown in the Sun‘ it will be the World Champion vs. Kevin Steen vs. Michael Elgin.
