The first match for Ring of Honor’s “Death Before Dishonor IX” in September has been announced, and it is an all-new match type.
The match is called the “Ringmaster’s Challenge” and it is a two-out-of-three falls match with a stipulation on each fall. The first fall will be pinfall only. The second will be submission only. The third fall, if necessary, will be a 15-minute Iron Man match. A 15-minute Iron Man match may not seem like much time, but after the two previous falls, a 15-minute Iron Man match will be grueling.
It is an interesting concept that ensures the better wrestler will win, and the two wrestlers scheduled to compete in the “Ringmaster’s Challenge” are former Ring of Honor World Champions Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong. The two have met twice in singles matches this year, and the title was on the line both times. Edwards defeated Strong at “Manhattan Mayhem IV” to win the title and defeated him once again at “Supercard of Honor VI” to retain the title. There are not titles on the line in the “Ringmaster’s Challenge,” but whoever wins will have to be in contention for a title shot in the future.
The “Ringmaster’s Challenge” will take place at “Death Before Dishonor IX” September 17 at the Manhattan Center in New York City. The event will air live on GFL.tv and it begins at 8:00 pm EST.
